JICA Seminar
- June 13, 2016
- Ms. Miku Okada, Deputy Director, Office for Global Issue and Development Partnership Strategy Department of JICA, gave a lecture on current world affairs and global issues. Her lecture was entitled “You and SDGs” and explained Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) initiated by UNDP last year. To show the connection between global issues and Japan, she pointed out Japan’s high dependency on trade, like virtual water, food, and oil. She also talked about the background of global warming, fast fashion, and poverty. To achieve 17 goals of SDGs, global partnership is critical among international organizations, developing countries, and Japan on the equal relationship. Her message to the students, i.e. to pay attention to global issues, to think what you can do for solving those problems, and to find what you like, was recognized as a first step to be a global human resource.
