Entrepreneur tour in Tsukuba city
- May 16, 2016
- Thanks to the support by Tsukuba Bank, 2nd grade students visited Hazama Ando Corporation, International Innovation Interface Organization and Empowerment Studio at University of Tsukuba.
-
Hazama Ando Cooperation is a mid-sized construction firm which works internationally. Students learned the climate characteristics of Japan -- rainy and humid in summer and rather dramatic seasonal changes. They also had a lecture on aseismic base isolation and earthquake-resistant structure, both of which are critical technologies in Japan.
-
Professor Kouno at International Innovation Interface Organization gave a lecture on entrepreneurship and pointed out the importance of “entrepreneur-like” life style by creating or inventing new jobs because of the technological advances particularly computerization and price lowering.
-
Empower Studio belongs to the Empowerment Informatics in the Program for Leading Graduate School at University of Tsukuba, and it has “laboratory” and “gallery” to develop VR technology and perform art exhibition as well. SGH students learned a new business model -- developing and improving informatics system by getting feedback from daily exhibition and performance at the laboratory and gallery.
-
Empowerment is defined here as the expansion of human functions. The faculty and graduate students in this program conduct an interdisciplinary research encompassing among informatics, engineering, arts, psychology, neuroscience, clinical medicine, nursing, science, business science, and corporate laws. The uniqueness of this studio is the strategy to improve its research projects by frequent feedback from the performance and public display as well as research simultaneously. SGH students experienced virtual reality system “Large space” (the biggest system of its kind in the world), Big Robot Mk1, Cyber protection suite, and Bionic scope.
