The Consul General of Japan in Vancouver Seminar

- Mr. Okada explained the role of consul of Japan work in Vancouver and discussed current diplomatic issues with convincing data and his own experiences. Comparing TOEFL scores among countries, Japan ranked in 135th in the world, and 27th among 30 countries in Asia. Improving English language skill is an urgent and critical issue for all Japanese citizens, not only for ambassadors. The knowledge of Japanese culture is also very important in cross-cultural environment. He proposed to promote Ibaraki local products for export (e.g., rice). Lastly, he emphasized the importance of capability to understand and cooperate with others, and at the same time, that of mental strength and self-confidence as crucial aspects to work and live in global setting.
