SGH Introductory Seminar

- SGH introductory seminar was held for the new 1st grade students. The seminar was led by Associate professors, Yukihiko Okada and Stephen Turnbull from University of Tsukuba, and two graduate students from China also joined. He first defined that the “global” human resource is the persons who is capable of making friends beyond borders and of valuing the differences (in culture and custom etc.). Then, the “glocal” human resource is the persons who value his/her own background and identity and are capable of conveying the local values to the world. To be a global person, you are expected to know and be able to explain your local values that are linked to Japanese way of thinking, behavior and philosophy.
To start SGH course study, building business idea with the vision and strategy is important. To do so, risk management and decision making are essential. The condition to be a good leader is to show the vision, make a decision, and build a team work.
Associate professor Turnbull defined “global” as the ability to work with counterparts with open mindedness. In business environment, building global standard is the most “global” activity. Your small action and idea can change the world.
